When Shahid met Kareena initially, she was a more established actress and he was just a film old. He said that he was realistic enough to be aware that this would become an issue for the couple. On the show Tere Mere Beach Mein recently, Shahid said that he was aware that Kareena was Raj Kapoor's granddaughter, her sister was Karisma Kapoor. He had danced behind Karisma in Dil to Pagal Hai. However Shahid mentioned that though his films flopped, Kareena had become his support system.
